Faith is personal. Nur (OmniAlera QuranFlow) is built so that we hold as little about you as possible, and only what we need to make the app work for you.
Our promise
- No ads, no analytics and no tracking cookies.
- We never sell your data, and we never use it to build a profile of you.
- You can use Nur without signing in. Reading, listening, bookmarks, notes and prayer times all work on your device alone.
If you don't sign in
Your bookmarks, notes, reading progress and settings stay in your browser on your device. They are not sent to us. If you clear your browser's data, they are removed.
If you sign in
You sign in with your email address. We send you a sign-in link through Resend, our email provider. We use your email only to send you sign-in links (and receipts or replies if you write to us). We do not send marketing emails.
Once you sign in, your bookmarks, notes, progress and settings are synced and stored in OmniAlera's Neon Postgres database in the USA, so they can follow you to your other devices.
- Sign-in links expire after 15 minutes.
- If you don't use Nur for 60 days, you are signed out on that device.
Keeping the app safe
- Bot check. To stop automated abuse, some actions use Cloudflare Turnstile, a quick human check that usually runs on its own without you doing anything.
- IP addresses. We do not store your IP address. To limit abuse, we keep only a salted hash of it (a scrambled code that cannot be turned back into the address) for a short time.
Circles
When you join a circle:
- Your display name and your posts can be seen by the members of that circle.
- Photos and voice notes you share are stored in Cloudflare R2 and can be seen only by that circle's members.
- There are no private messages in Nur.
- If someone reports a post, the circle's moderators and OmniAlera review it.
- Teen circles are led by verified teachers. Adults confirm they are 18 or older.
- Class progress is shared with a teacher only if you say yes. Even then, the teacher sees only counts and dates (for example, how many ayat you read and when), never your notes.
Location and microphone
- Location is used only when you ask for prayer times or the Qibla direction. It is used on your device to calculate them and is not sent to us.
- Microphone is used only when you record a voice note or answer the Nur guide by voice.
You can say no to either, and change your mind in your browser's settings.
Payments
Plans and gifts are paid through Stripe. Stripe handles your card details; OmniAlera never sees or stores your card number. We keep a record of your plan, its status and renewal date so the app knows what you have. To make sure the 7-day free trial is used only once, we also keep a one-way scrambled (hashed) form of your email address that cannot be turned back into the address. We keep it even after you delete your account, only for this purpose.
AI study help
When you ask an AI question, your question and the ayat and tafsir text it is about are sent to Anthropic, our AI provider, to write the answer. This is not used to identify you. Please don't include personal details, such as your name, health or family matters, in your questions.
Who else helps run Nur
We only share what each one needs to do its job:
- Cloudflare — hosting, the Turnstile bot check and media storage (R2)
- Neon — our database, for synced data and circles (USA)
- Resend — sending sign-in emails
- Stripe — payments and receipts
- Anthropic — AI study answers, only when you ask a question
- Google Fonts — the typefaces used on these pages
- Islamic Network — recitation audio, streamed when you listen
Deleting your data
Delete my account in the Library removes everything we hold about you: your synced data, posts, media, suggestions and billing records. It also cancels any paid plan. If you never signed in, clearing your browser's data for nur.omnialera.com removes everything.
Children
Nur is suitable for all ages. Teen circles are only available with verified teachers. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13 without a parent's involvement. If you think a child has given us data without a parent, please tell us and we will delete it.
